June 2016

This company is male dominated in the upper ranks and run by informal leaders who are family related or friends in the lower ranks. Favoritism and fear for ones job even at the executive leadership level exists. Exploring new ideas is blatantly rejected and unacceptable.

Be aware that flex time and perks like work from home Fridays are only available to a select few. It causes resentment for those who do not have it.

March 2016

In mid-level management positions, it is fairly equal distribution of men and women and women's voices truly to do seem to be heard. I do not feel there is an inherent difference in the ways women and men are viewed at this level. Working at the corporate headquarters or office is very different from the field level, where my experience lies.

Don't let the fact that there are so many men in your department (and in the company) intimidate or bother you. You're there because they know you can do the job.

April 2015

I've worked here for more than 20 years. There is plenty of opportunity but to get ahead you need to build a solid network. Pay attention to building relationships with senior managers and the movers and shakers in the organization. Politics is the name of the game here. Find someone well connected that you can trust to watch your back.
