June 2018

I report to women all the way up to the VP level. There is good flexibility, and real understanding that maternity leave happens and then life goes on.

February 2016

HR at this company is about 80% female so it is quite empowering to be surrounded by so many strong women in executive leadership roles (within HR). It is a great company to work for with tremendous growth opportunity. However, outside of HR, the rest of the company is male-dominated, particularly in executive leadership and it is not very diverse. Maternity leave is generous compared to other companies nearby and other work-life balance options (such as onsite childcare, telecommuting, etc) are above average compared to other companies of similar size nearby.

January 2016

Generally had no problems working here, but when it comes to promotions, politics and preferences of the bosses definitely factor in. They do have good benefits, a perk is being able to bring your baby in with you until they reach the age of six months. However some benefits may be going away with the state of the state government.

November 2015

I was able to take a long maternity leave (12 weeks paid, 2 weeks unpaid) because I worked for the district for 9 years and had plenty of time accrued. If I hadn't, I would have had 6-8 weeks maximum. Maternity leave is taken from your sick days, so if you don't have 6-8 weeks of days saved, you will have to borrow from co-workers or go unpaid. I believe overall, women are treated fairly within the district, but at certain schools there is favoritism towards males in a female-dominated industry. Also, it seems that within the district, those from minority backgrounds are sought after for leadership positions.
