In my 18 year career I have had a variety of flexible schedules including work from home, 80% (4 days/week), 80% (5 days/week 8-3pm), and 100% with flex schedule. I've had near total support in making the arrangements that work for me. I should note that I am in a non-client facing role so this is easier to do than if I were in a client-facing role.

It's not the policies which make flex work, it is the people. And there are great people at ZS

No matter what they tell you about flexibility, a slow week is 60-65 hours in consulting. If you can balance that with your other commitments, then great.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. There are a lot of "It depends moments" that are great when they exist, but tough not miss when they don't. Whether or not you have more or less of these moments is based on the industry/function that you are assigned. They have flexible work, but it depends on the project, the schedule, the leadership, etc. etc etc. You often change projects at least once per year in large commercial work and it's tough to adjust your life to these ebbs and flows, whether you are a mother or not. For example, some clients are all about face-to-face and it can be very hard and tedious leaving work that's not a fit for you.

Talk to men about how to support women in the organization, i.e. treat people equally and not assume women are not technical
