You can do better. The culture is horrible and moral is low. Take it if you must as a steppingstone, but don’t plan on a career if you value yourself.

We were bought by Alltech, so our previous flexibility stayed in place, but the new policies were very restrictive. They actually counted the number of hours you took for doctors appointments. And vacation leave cannot be used in any way you please.

December 2017

Your experience will depend a lot on the nature of your job, the department and, if you're a researcher, on the PI of the group you join. Several departments are working towards Athena Swan - other Universities are much further ahead but at least it's a start in the right direction.

Create full-time research positions. However, this is a sector-wide problem, not specific to this University.

I would tell her that she should expect less pay than her male counterpart, and depending on the office, male chauvinism.

Flexibility has gone down since the CEO left. The interim CEO is gradually taking away all of the flexibility that most of the employees have thrived from for so many years. Morale is completely in the toilet, and more than half of the people in my office are looking for new jobs.

November 2015

Pretty even and fair for male and females from Associate to Supervisor level. While it is offered and bragged about, women who use flex time are looked down upon. It was uncommon for female employees to have children before they reached the manager level; once at that level they don't move up. Director and Partner level is predominantly male.

October 2015

I worked at Mathnasium for over a year. You have to take a mathematics test during the application and most workers have a Bachelor's degree or working towards one. They only offered part time. Low pay even when doing 1-1 tutoring (Cost is $60/hour but you only get $10 of that). You can make more money elsewhere or doing private tutoring.
