"A central part of our company goals and mission is to grow and continue to provide support to a diversity of genders and underrepresented populations. I feel like this is a typical part of the mission at every company, and at least in my past experience, these sentiments remain theoretical and little action is taken. Over the last year at Ginkgo, I have seen many specific examples of the ways that our leadership is putting concrete steps in place to achieve these goals (including providing direct resources for recruitment and hiring of underrepresented populations across all teams). We still have a lot of growing to do, but we acknowledge that growth and take action to continue providing an inclusive place to work for all.
I also wanted to add that I have never been more challenged and learned as much professionally than in my time at Ginkgo. Due to our go-getter company culture, I have been given numerous opportunities to cross-train in new skill sets, while being mentored by amazing women who are leaders in all different roles. In addition, it has been so refreshing to have an open door policy where feedback is encouraged from bottom to top and vice versa. "

"Ginkgo Bioworks has unlimited PTO and taking this personal time is highly encouraged. All of my managers have been open to anything that arises where I need more flexibility, as their main concern is communication and providing updates on projects and deadlines and what resources you need to tackle the initiatives you're working on so the team is aligned. There is a lot of individual trust that you will work hard to push the company goals forward, and what follows is the flexibility to make that happen. "

Is paid parental leave offered, and if so, how much?
"Yes"
12 Weeks Paid | 0 Weeks Unpaid
"I said "0" for unpaid weeks as we have unlimited PTO, so if a parent needed to take additional time beyond the 12 weeks already given for parental leave, I'm assuming they could take additional PTO as needed by working this out with their manager. I am not a parent myself so I would have to delve into our parental leave policy a bit deeper to give more accurate information here. "
