Indeed overall has a great culture and policies - work from home/remotely, flexible work hours, great parental/caregiver leave, open PTO, mother rooms with sinks, etc. That being said, awareness for why we need to have tough conversations around inclusion and diversity is in its infancy, we need more structure and training around unconscious bias, ally skills training, etc.

The group of women here is amazing. Extremely supportive with lots of mentorship opportunities. There are some departments where women remain woefully outnumbered, but the large number of women in the office (~20% right now) mitigates that.

Company is very flexible policy-wise, but it's important for the employee to set boundaries for work/life balance that feel comfortable to them. Without pushback, it would be easy to find yourself working every weekend (depending on position).

Pretty good place to work as a woman. No explicit sexsim, and management has just anounced that they will start initiatives to counter unconcious bias. Hours are reasonably flexible.

While the PR doesn't look good, this is a great time to be at Uber. Women's voices are being heard in new ways, allies for women are speaking up for better work environments. There is a positive wave of energy that is fueling what women are doing and how women's leadership and voice are being leveraged to improve Uber as a business and place to work.

With the current performance review process, the company values contradict family-focused decisions. You have to tradeoff time: time with work or time with family, and that might impact the midyear and annual performance review.
Maybe. We are in the midst of a huge, positive shift in the work environment culture and a big part of that is to improve the work environment for women.

Like any job there are benefits and challenges. Being a freelancer has different challenges than a normal job but of course more freedom and flexibility. Identify your personal priorities and make your decision from there.

Although the company is male dominated, it is working hard to increase diversity. Still some mismatch between intent and practice.

Flexibility can be a double-edged sword; There are times that It adds more stress since I feel I could never be off work and was expected to be "on" all the time (regardless i am in the office or not)
Maybe. Depends what you want; It is still one of the best companies out there anyway.
Improve work-life balance and policies (e.g. flex-time, limit face time)
