When I interviewed, everyone unprompted told me how wonderful the work-life balance is here. It has proven true more often than not (but all jobs have rough weeks/projects that require a little more time to be put in at night).

I had a great experience in the Marketing department at IBM with some wonderful managers. I worked really hard from home. However, the new CMO has recently called the entire marketing department back into the office. Everyone in Marketing must work in one of the six colocation marketing hubs. I was asked to move to NYC but I declined. Therefore, I am now looking for a new job.

It's a dog eat dog place and you must make your voice heard. It's male dominated and you'll run into a lot of complex personalities. It's not for the faint of heart.

The software engineers and the technical assemblers and testers are great to work with. This is an R&D environment, with fequent travel between two facilities. Besides the coding, documentation and commuication are done using Jira, Confluence, and HipChat.
