"HEB has been a truly great company to work for. From the volunteer opportunities, to the events, even partner discounts- it's fantastic. And surprisingly better than most folks would assume grocery company benefits to be. I will say women are treated differently but not in the sense that it would prevent them from obtaining a promotion or raise. Of course, if there is a manager that directly treats us differently (I would be lying if I said there were none of those) then most folks report them to HR and they either get with the program or end up on everyone's bad side. I selected women as not being treated equally to men but this is likely not what many would assume. As a woman working in a company thats 100+ years old it's not surprising that some folks are still in a bit of a "boys club" mentality. This is not a company mindset- its an individual one. To me the companies diveristy is its strength but of course that means that with that diversity comes many many different opinions and sometimes you need to be successful regardless of what other people think. I have spent 8 years with the company thus far beginning as a checker- I can say I was treated differently because I was an absolute last resort when it came to hard labor work in the stores. Pulling rows of carts inside, helping with carryouts like chimineas- or 50lb dog food bags. Rarely are women asked to do that work unless they insist upon it. Even customers complain "They should be getting one of the guys to do this heavy lifting." I have never seen or heard of a woman being held back for a promotion because of her gender, we also have award ceremonies for women who drive the success of the business at a store level and committees dedicated to women in leadership roles. It is a large company and opportunities for specialized roles are incredibly limited. People often wait years for a specific position to become available. The only reason I have not rated the company 4/5 is because I have not been able to find success in the area of the company that I am passionate about. I am saddened but the reality is that the opportunity to contribute to this company in a way that I am passionate about may not come along and I would have to leave despite it being such a great place."

"These comments are centered around the Supply Chain organization. There are no women in leadership and career paths are not outlined. Promotions and fair pay are not conversations this area is ready to have or support. Be prepared to watch men be promoted and paid more. Women will be brought into the interview process to show diversity however these women are likely not on the same team. "
