"Henkel is company with a long history. Especially in Europe, company is well known for their family ownership and culture. In the U.S. a lot has changed over the past 5 years in a positive way. More and more senior leaders are women, there is more flexibility in terms of work-life balance and even offices have been upgraded to support working moms. I think Henkel is doing great in terms of create flexible working environment and support women in their careers. Open communication with the supervisor is the most important in this case."

"I think it is a great place to work. The HR department is making a lot of great steps to increase equality between men and women and also to implement DE&I programs. Since I started working here, I have seen a lot of positive changes. I truly believe that Henkel has been made aware of areas needing improvement and is working really hard to address them. "

"It all depends on your department. Marketing, sales, finance, and R&D actually do work and are expected to go above and beyond. There’s lots of internal, busy work and paper pushing. No matter your level you will be Henkel focused more than external focused, which is not the best way to run a consumer business. Henkel likes to cut corners and cost save. Everything they do is to save a penny. This ultimately means you will do more work with fewer people, and it’s not stimulating work. People don’t stay for long. Yes there’s a handful of people who have been at the company for 5+ years but there is a lot of turnover after 2-3 years. You will absolutely not be supported as a parent. Only after years of employee complaints did Henkel finally adopt a parental leave policy. In true Henkel fashion they created a policy that is worse than all its peer companies and so far behind the benefits Germany receives. A company worth billions can’t be bothered to give its employees (who create that value and perform mindless work to save pennies) decent benefits. "

"For years Henkel has said it’s a flexible work environment, but when you ask to take advantage of the flexible work arrangements you’ll be denied. Pre-pandemic I was told I could WFH 2 days a week only to be told no when I officially asked. Upper management was upset so many people WFH on Fridays even though it was touted as a benefit. There’s talk about more flexibility when the pandemic ends, but there won’t be. It will go back to one day a week begrudgingly. The only people I’ve seen who get to enjoy such benefits are HR, and they’re not the ones keeping the lights on. Would be nice to give the real workers benefits."

"You can ask for a leave of absence to get unpaid leave after having a child, but it is solely dependent on your manager. I’ve heard some people get this approved while others are denied. You should absolutely not assume you will get any unpaid time since it is not available to everyone. "

"I had one manager who was amazing and I would work with that manager on whatever the task and team. I had several other managers who were okay. I had two managers who were in over their heads and clearly not interested in doing work. The problem was the two checked out managers. There was nothing to do but wait until I changed roles or they left. You would think a manager not showing up for work and missing big meetings would be noticed, but that wasn’t the case!"

"Make your expectations about work-life balance and career path clear from the start. Their triple-two policy places working parents at a disadvantage but is seen as a factor for mobility in the organization. "
