July 2018

The HR department leaves much to be desired, as does the advancement system. I, personally, was not comfortable with a lot of the practices and policies in place, but I have met other women who work here that have a difference of opinion.

The percentage of women in leadership positions is much less than the percentage of women in the firm (overall parent company). Sick time counts against your PTO balance.

The company and it's parent company are flexible. But the business unit isn't performing well so we're having to let a lot of people go.

June 2017

MediaSource is run by a strong, hands on, female company president. She is creative, determined, emotionally intelligent and even fun. This is a great place for any employee who seeks to grow in their career and an especially empowering place for women.

February 2016

Don't work at Emerson if you are an ambitious female. Sex discrimination both overt and covert are rampant. You might be ok up to manager level. Their are tons of female managers. They advertise those jobs internally. Director and above jobs aren't usually advertised so their is no application process and the good old boys club takes over. At a presentation on mentoring, women were advised that men mentoring women were seen as affairs but since there are almost no women at higher levels it becomes impossible to have mentors let alone sponsors. They really don't even give lip service to diversity beyond having a non enforced non discrimination policy in place. Every reorganization or newly created director or VP role go to men. It's clear that from the top on down that women are not considered to even have leadership potential or decision making ability.

November 2015

The company says they care about family but offers no paid parental leave and asks new moms to take off as little time as possible by saying, "no one ever takes the full 12 weeks" which are required under FMLA. Women comprise most of the employees, and work-life balance is obtainable, but only in some roles. Headquarters has a lactation room. Some men in the office are rude around pregnant women. One department directory to 39-weeks-pregnant coworker: "If you burst, just don't get any on the carpet."
