Nice people and good environment. Leadership is heavily male dominated, but they treat women well. However, as in any company, need to continue pushing forward to break the glass ceiling at different levels.

Overall good unless you are in a sales role and require travel and being out a lot to drum up business (where the success is then tied to your year-end comp).

Make sure you are getting paid the same as your male colleagues. On two occassions I found out I was earning 30-40% less due to the non-transparent bonuses

Flexibility, balance are very much dependent on whom you work for.
Yes
Insist on tangible changes In the day to day treatment of women: men constantly interrupting and talking over the top of women; men being promoted instead of women and then expecting those same women to perform the duties of the promoted man; ignoring suggestions made by women and then accepting them when they are made five minutes later by a man.

Securian currently does not offer any work from home days (only certain departments) and they do not have a maternity leave - you get the standard 12 weeks unpaid (6 of them covered under STD at 60% pay) and if you want to take of more time you will have to use your vacation/PTO.
