It's a shame they don't offer any paid maternity leave. We are forced to use all of our vacation and sick time which leaves us with nothing when returning to work. There is also a lot of pressure to come back to work as soon as possible.

Minor shift in manager involvement, to be more engaged and collaborative in my work. Collaboration across teams is excellent, however direct management involvement in skill development is often overlooked.

December 2015

Even women in leadership roles are constantly critiqued for being "bossy" or "too direct", or are under constant scrutiny for their appearance or perceived missteps. It's very much an "old boys club" and I can't think of any woman leader within the company that is exempt from these perceptions.

Similar to other universities, KU struggles with the lack of women in the sciences. There is occasionally a professor with sexist tendencies, but overall it is a female-friendly place to study and do research.
