"The culture you'll experience all comes down to the team you're on, the individual manager you work for, and the director they report to. It varies so greatly across the company. Broadly, the culture is very influence by patriarchal norms. There is a ton of white fragility among the few women in leadership - they're most invested in protecting their own proximity to power. There are a few BIPOC in leadership and a few women in leadership, but at least 70-75% of leadership is white men."

"Some divisions are allowed more flexibility or the director/senior managers have created, but it's not codified in policy. So, when teams from different divisions are tasks on projects that overlap, there is a definite imbalance. Also, the overall culture is very influenced by boomers and so their traditionally gendered views on family roles and equality over equity or fairness can influence many things, including flexibility. A a parent to young kids, I need a little flexibility during the start of the school year and during other times and my boomer colleagues have proven they will consistently throw that back at me if I ever question their follow through. I don't think the two are related, but they sure do make them related."

"It really depends on the group you join. There’s great diversity in executive leadership but not as much in mid level. HR is unhelpful if you have any issues and there to protect higher level. Black and LatinX have a class action lawsuit for unequal pay that KP settled on so hopefully it will get better. "

"I wish I would have begun my career with Kaiser Permanente. It is one of the most supportive environments of the working mother I have ever experienced and goes out of there way to ensure that women are treated equally."

"I don’t know if it is because Kaiser is a healthcare organization, or of it because of their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, but I find that there are more women in leadership positions than men. "
