    Production department does not get to benefit from much flexibility. Other departments are much better.

    I know two colleagues who banked their maximum 20 days PTO to plan the birth of their new baby, then took unpaid time off for the length of time they could afford to live without a paycheck, which was only a few weeks, giving them a total of 1.5 months off with their new babies. Meanwhile, our colleagues in other countries have benefited from 3-6 months off due to local laws. This is super sad and frustrating; we should take the best from all locations and apply it globally to fully support our working mothers.

    This really depends on your particular manager. The company does do 'swipe reports' looking at how often you are in the office. They take that into consideration during layoffs. The CEO did come in a few months ago to chastise the employees for not being in the office often enough -- when he read the percentage of people in the office, we were shocked he was saying anything to us because it was really good! He should have better things to do that worry about who is and isn't in the office.

Jeanswear and Corporate are in the midst of a transition I believe. There are many people who have been at the company for years and are waiting out their time until they can claim their pension. There is a family type atmosphere because so many people have been at the company for so long. There is currently no parental leave policy in place and very few women in senior management. Lots of traditional attitudes and lots of older white men are in charge. Other VF coalitions and brands may have different atmospheres.
