It's good and provides some extra benefits than what the government allows. However, I am not aware of all of them, mostly heard by colleagues.

It is hard to get promoted if you have a family and kids. You should be willing to work on sites if you want to move up the ladder.

Do not work at New York University's SPS Center of Excellence and Support Department. This department truly gives a bad name for a great school.

This Department is biased as to who gets the perks and who does not. Employees are not treated fairly at all. This employer makes promises about space and environment and does not support or deliver such.

It would be great if the NYU SPS CAES employer was more fair when it comes to treating employees without having favorites. It would be great if upper management had leadership so that the CAES is not a revolving door.

February 2016

The company is great overall; however the maternity experience could be improved. With the current policy you must take one week of PTO, then you get 6 weeks paid in disability, then you can take another 5 weeks of PTO. PTO starts at 3 weeks for the first year and gradually goes up to 5 weeks after 10 years. You can rollover 5 weeks of PTO to the next year so you really need to save up to have enough in the bank for maternity leave. You will also not receive a bonus while you are on maternity leave which is anywhere from 15%-30%. of your pay.. For me this equated to nearly $5000. That said, HR recently stated they are reviewing our maternity and paternity policy to make us more competitive and should have an enhancement to the policy soon.

April 2015

There is an old guard of people who have worked at the company for a very long time and they make it very difficult for new employees to penetrate the highest rank of the culture unless you are hired from the outside directly into a top role. The perception is that you have to be an aggressive part of an all-male, older inner circle in order to succeed at the very highest levels here. If you're just trying to advance to middle management, its possible and fine for women.

The guys who work here are kind and engaging, except the new sales guys who are annoying bros in a good young boys club. All the men who started the company are lovely encouraging and smart. Issues with being paid on time as contractor.
