December 2015

PW goes out of its way to support women with networking events, seminars, etc., but that is in part because mentoring is difficult - there are not very many female partners, let along female senior associates, so it is difficult to develop informal mentoring relationships with other women. Male partners are careful to be appropriate and professional to female associates, which can be uncomfortable in that it does not help develop casual, friendly relationships.

Telecommute policy allows managers to determine rules for their organization. As such it is allowed and managed well in some organizations. Other organizations don't allow any telecommuting. This has created issues for me personally. There is a good mix of women in management positions and at the executive level too.

Maybe. HGST is in transition. The culture, brand and vision are being implemented now. They are on the right track. Still have some very bad/toxic Directors/vps

I wish maternity leave was paid at full salary but that's not the company fault. Easy to get promoted if you work hard and follow company policy.

November 2015

I've worked at this company for approximately 4 years. Several women have taken maternity leave and returned during my time here. The office is great for maternity leave, but not so supporting upon returning. There has been progress in supporting new mothers, but the mentality is hard to change. I think some associates have a difficult time with balancing their new home life demands and the demands of a stressful and uncompromising job.

November 2015

I've worked here for four years, and it's clear that it's a good company for working moms. Sometimes, I think that is the only reason the company is able to retain some great female employees despite many shortcomings/disfunction in a number of areas (pay is subpar, career growth can be questionable, there is a lack of focus/clear path at the executive level, etc.) But, the company's focus on work/life balance, ample flexibility, ability to negotiate working from home in some roles, and 6-week sabbatical every 4 years is very generous for anyone who prizes a life outside of work. It's also a very mission-driven company ("Investors first"), which I appreciate, and they make giving back to the community a priority.

The guys who work here are kind and engaging, except the new sales guys who are annoying bros in a good young boys club. All the men who started the company are lovely encouraging and smart. Issues with being paid on time as contractor.
