"Almost 28 years with the company tho' it's only been CTL the past 3-4 (they bought Qwest, who bought USWest, which was Pacific NW Bell). Corporate culture says diversity and fairness; reality is quite different. Without union representation, things would be much worse and there are MANY positions without union protection. Front line work forces are expected & required to do mandatory overtime, work weekends and holidays at the company's discretion. Failure to meet expectations in ANY aspect of the job results in discipline up to and including termination. Safety is being sacrificed for expediency. Proper records and engineering are being abandoned as CTL was never an regional Bell operating company (RBOC) and doesn't seem to know how to work in compliance with RBOC & federal regulations. Bonuses are a joke; mine was $200 in 2015, about $137 after taxes, and I am at top pay in my job title with excellent metrics. 401(k) matching has declined, health insurance costs have skyrocketed, but they get us new uniforms every year. There are no proactive projects; CTL seems to prefer to put out fires, not prevent them. Women in the field are becoming VERY rare-I am the last in my city. I am looking forward to retirement as soon as possible."
