I can’t, in good conscience, recommend this place to a woman who wants to be happy at work. It’s an okay place to cut your teeth, but it’s not a place you can succeed in long term.

June 2018

People like working here because of the bonus and ESOP. The bonus is a way if paying you less during the year (I took a pay cut upon starting) to give you a larger bonus at the end of the year. PTO and holidays are at a minimum.

The maternity leave policy was not family friendly. All vacation had to buy used before receiving any paid leave. While on leave holidays signed as part of your time off and vacation had to be usedas itwas accrued during leave. This results in no PTO upon returning to work. The policy was updated in 2017 but it is not much better.

It seems to vary from person to person and role to role. In my experience over the past 8 years I feel like I have varying degrees of flexibility based on my role and manager. A LOT is left to manager discretion vs having an overall policy.

This is a growing organization going through a tremendous cultural shift. The CEO is a woman as are about half of her direct report. I'm a senior manager and in my 13th year find this about as interesting a place as I've worked in the last 40 years.

It is a highly political organization if you aspire to the management level. Beware your allegiances/alignments and henchmen.

April 2016

Apptentive makes it a point to be cognizant of diversity and women in the workplace, which is really refreshing. The company as a whole cares a lot about mentorship and learning, but the women are invested in mentoring other women both inside and outside of the company, which I really value. Overall, it's a great company to work for as a woman.

February 2015

Challenging, interesting work- but I would never recommend this workplace for a young woman who is trying to grow her career. The leadership team is made up entirely of men, there are no policies in place for having children, and there are no opportunities for mentorship or development. With plenty of great tech companies in Boston, I'd definitely avoid this one.
