"I have worked for Medtronic for 8 years. As a whole, the company is wonderful. I feel like they strive to promote diversity and inclusion. A lot of resources go into the employee resource groups and employee benefits. They are also advocating moving to a hybrid model post pandemic. The challenge often comes with individual sites or even just individuals. I have had concerns and know of other women who have had concerns that weren't addressed well by leadership. "

"I think it varies manager to manager, but in IT, managers seem pretty laid back when it comes to employees needing to run to pick up a sick kid or working from home even before Covid. They see the bigger picture: completing quality work is more important than sitting in front of the computer 9-5. There is a large employee resource group for women, which offers a lot of great events and ways to expand your network. They are working to get 40% women in management, however, this is a big disappointment to me. Why not 50%? And most of these managers are low manager positions. I'd like to see more women at the top. "There is a lot of pressure to work really hard/long hours, so just be aware of that if you are hoping for more work-life balance. On the plus side, Medtronic tries to be really inclusive of women, especially in STEM, through programs like SWE and Women in Leadership."

"Although Medtronic tries to market itself as a flexible workplace with good work-life balance, the culture tells a different story. It may vary depending on what team you're on, but the general feel is a very high-stress, super busy work environment. Although there are sometimes opportunities to work from home or even work part-time, there is pressure not to, and there's pressure to work long hours."

"I've been working at Medtronic for over 10 years. I've never had any issues with work/life balance. I started right out of school. Got married 4 years later, and now I have two children ages 4 and 2. My management has been supportive every step of the way. They've been very flexible and accommodating from birth to kid's doctors appointments, and I've never felt like its held me back. I've been promoted through my roles and am now a manager of an engineering team. I've moved faster than many of my other colleagues and that is also proof of my acceleration. For that reason, I think Medtronic is a great place to work for women. There are not a ton of women in higher leadership, and I strongly believe they are working to amend that, but you won't all of a sudden have internal talent that can be the next President or VP. So they are building talent and have a lot more female directors and managers, so its moving in the right direction."

12 Weeks Paid | 52 Weeks Unpaid
"The unpaid is entirely up to you and your manager.
Women's paid is at base 12 weeks, but you can easily get 14 through the healthy pregnancy program (nurse calls once a week to check how things are going) and C-section is an additional 2 weeks. The last 6 weeks can be broken up twice. I used this feature to do 12 weeks when my son was born and 2 weeks before his first birthday just to experience a little more of his personality.
Men's leave is 6 weeks base, but an additional 2 weeks if mother is external to Medtronic and does a healthy pregnancy program. These 6 weeks can be broken up twice."
