In general, the culture is very accepting. Efforts are made to try to be supportive such as a few breast feeding rooms around the lab. A lot of the support comes from grass roots employee lead initiatives such as a new parents group.

    Preparing for leave. Planning on ~6 weeks disability which utilizes sick time and ~6 weeks family bonding which uses a partial coverage from a CA state benefit and the rest is made up with vacation time if you have it.
