We are free to speak our mind and encouraged to be accountable and empowered. However, there are still much more men than there are women, so we need more to join and support our team!

It's a mans industry. If you work in corporate and want to be taken seriously you'll need to be able to play the game. Work in a retail position will be exactly what you'd expect from anywhere.

Not surprisingly at a beauty company, you are expected to glam up and not conforming to these beauty stanards may hurt your social credit within the org - this is especially true in merchandising.

November 2016

Overall most people at the company are respectful and treat coworkers equally. I was a bit bothered at consistantly recieving feedback that I needed to be more confident. I did not like that raises/bonuses are based on self evaluation. Work from home is great, but quality of work varies depending on your client.

The executive level is very much a "boys club", so while the culture is good and supportive of women, if you come from a very US corporate culuture and background, this might not be the best fit for you as the Latin American macho heritage and culture is definitely noticeable in the day-to-day.

February 2016

BAE has worked hard over the last 5 years to improve the environment for women, and has made progress. However, it is still a place where women are in the minority, and where unconscious, and sometime conscious, bias rules. Participants at the unconscious bias training mandated for managers that I attended very explicitly stated that they didn't believe in the concept, and thought that it was simply a way to encourage quotas. In coaching sessions, women are encouraged to tolerate "top gun" behavior by a small number colleagues - because those are the "high energy" people that have management's ear. On the flip side, most colleagues are smart, and friendly once you get to know them.

February 2016

This is a very fair company with many good opportunities for women. They have been working to improve their maternity, paternity, and adoption policies and have made honest, impressive improvements in that arena. Several smart women at senior levels set a solid example for others. The women tend to mentor and support each other as well.
