There are amazing women who work here, however there is a strong culture of “good ol boys” club.

Don't take their mission/vision/policy language at face value: the talk is great, the walk not so much.

The company policy offers decent flexibility with fex time and work from home options, but the actual culture penalizes employees who exersice these options.

April 2016

Parental leave could be better, though they did just implement two weeks paid for both men and women so at least that is some progress. Note that housestaff are treated very different benefit-wise than Northwestern staff. Very much depends on what program you are with and who you work with. In general, pediatrics are less family friendly and flexible, ironically.

There are many women at the upper ranks in HuffPost and a lot of support for work-life balance, as well as a progressive culture that supports diversity.

October 2015

I was with the company for a little over 3 years. I loved what I did & enjoyed my role there. Benefits were amazing!! Unlike anywhere else I have worked prior. Unfortunately, career development within the organization was very problematic & the main reason I had to leave the company. HR was difficult to work with when posting out of a current position. There was no explanation for why you didn't receive a position or even get an interview for. If you are good at your job, you should be able to move up & be rewarded for it. Depending on the department, there was favoritism for who would get promotions & opportunites rather than experience or work. It was more who you know versus work hard to be recognized & rewarded.

BCG is very supportive of women and constantly working hard to overcome the previously male-dominated culture. Our benefits are quite generous, and you can really take as much time off for things like maternity as you want (it just won't be paid after 12 weeks). It's client service, so there are always last minute requests and "fire drills", but in general it is quite flexible, without the need for "face time". This was very important to me after having kids.
