"The company is trying but it's still a boy's club, though the people in charge don't seem to fully recognize that. I've encountered a lot of outright and aversive sexism. I've been demeaned and insulted, and some of my female friends and coworkers have experienced that and worse. Some of the individual teams are amazing to work for, if you ignore the upper tier management aspect, but others are less functional. It's an exciting environment and one of the premier political journalism orgs in the U.S. The parental leave policy isn't bad, though work-life balance can be tricky. Most of the co-workers are fun, accomplished and smart people, really great to work with. The salaries are good, much better than most journalism jobs, which is why I haven't left yet. A few women were recently promoted, which is good to see, and many managers are women -- but not the top ones. "

"Worked at Politico for almost three years. It's a very difficult place to work for members of any gender and worse if you are a woman. I tell men not to work there and practically beg women to stay away."
