"How can a hospital take a happy, well-functioning office of satisfied long-term employees, who are great at what they do and completely destroy it? Contract with R1 RCM. Once we were signed on with R1, the goal became to train the offshore (India) employees to take on more and more of the work that we did. We were told this will free you up to do...what exactly? That was up in the air. Turns out, it was to combine and condense what work was left onto fewer and fewer employees. As employees left, they were not replaced, which I believe sends the message that 'you are not valued'. The remaining employees were in a constant state of uneasiness, wondering what will happen next. It felt more strict, unflexible for work life balance, and unwelcoming. It's better for the hospital's bottom line to have things done in India, and have to pay as few American workers as possible."
