Don't be in it for compensation and benefits. Be in it for the kids. The culture is lovely. Poeple care about one another here.

Do not work at New York University's SPS Center of Excellence and Support Department. This department truly gives a bad name for a great school.

This Department is biased as to who gets the perks and who does not. Employees are not treated fairly at all. This employer makes promises about space and environment and does not support or deliver such.
Maybe. New York University is great bust stay away from the Center of Academic Excellence and Support Department. This department is a revolving door with inadequate upper management tactics.
It would be great if the NYU SPS CAES employer was more fair when it comes to treating employees without having favorites. It would be great if upper management had leadership so that the CAES is not a revolving door.

This employer does promote professional growth, but at a cost of work-life balance. In order to be successful at this job, you need to be willing to dedicate you entire life to it.

Maybe. You learn a lot at this job and grow quickly as an educator. The job itself is very unsustainable with long hours and many expectations outside the classroom.

A great community as a whole, but the administration has room for improvement and should model the core values more.

The nature of a rural location and boarding school schedule is it can be very isolated community socially; make sure you get to know who else you'll be living and working with, see if you are a good community fit. It changes year to year. These people will be your colleagues and friends; it is hard with the schedule and location to meet people in the greater community.

I think for others it was around 5-6 weeks, not sure if paid or not...I think there was a payroll deduction
Not for Promotion
Maybe. Traditionally an all-male environment, only transitioning to having more of a female staff presence in the last ten years or so. Isolated nature of campus can lead to some outdated ideas of women's roles, interests, etc. Many in leadership are working to address these issues. If you are a feminist, be prepared to be a leader among many young 20-somethings who might not have worked anywhere else.

It helps the community, but they don't really embrace motherhood with flexiblity with telecomute or maternity benefits.

Maybe. There are a lot of caring people here and I have some the most encouraging coworkers. Managers can be a bit micromanagers and the maternity benefits are not that great. The maximum amount of pay you get when you have a child is 4 weeks if you have a C Section and that is at 90% pay.
