"It can be very political. I started out as a "favorite". I was fast tracked through promotions until I made one mistake. Despite being very accountable, admitting my mistake and accepting my punishment I fell out of favor and was pushed out. Sephora can be an amazing place to work and there are so many perks, just be careful."

"It's retail, so it depends on your coverage and how busy you are. There were times my daycare was blowing me up saying I needed to pick up my child and I physically couldn't leave because I was the only Leader in the building and would be fired if I did. However, if Leadership coverage is good it can be very easy to schedule appointments and leave early/come in late."

"It really depends on you. Do you want to drink the "kool-aid" and comform? If so, great! Work for them! If not, don't. Even if you are hired, if you don't fit the perfect mould, you will be pushed out."

"I came from tech and assumed Sephora would have a Devil Wears Prada culture (I didn't know much about makeup or beauty). I was so wrong. I love my team and coworkers. The values of the company are aligned with my own, and I am proud to work for a company that champions empowerment and self-confidence for women and all our clients. "

"It of course depends on the team you're on -- I sit on the corporate communications team and we are extremely flexible. I can work from home when I need to or come in late/leave early. Since this is a company with 86% women (and 70% of our VPs are women), work-life balance is encouraged and supported by leaders. "

"Store director feels entitled to the time of all of his employees and has verbalized that several times throughout his time a time our store. He told us that we need to provide reasons for requesting off and if there were multiple on the same day from different employees he would use his judgement to grant the day off to the employee with the "best reason". There are also lots of women that have come forward and said that he has harassed them and he continues to get promoted and moved up in our company. "

"Nothing. I left after my new, straight, male, boss would not stop physically touching me and verbally harassing me. He has worked for Sephora for 11 years and has had countless sexual harassment complaints filed against him. All have been ignored, including mine. This store claims to empower women, but it is predominantly male run. I had three store directors in my four years with the company and all were male. To be completely transparent, after he touched me on September 12th, on both shoulders, from behind, I turned, looked at him, told him to go fuck himself, grabbed my belongings and walked out. "

"Operations is the worst department for flexibility. I worked in all departments, including an interim management position and Sephora has created a culture of fear and discrimination so there really is no flexibility in the company. "

"It's a great place to work overall. It really depends on the location tho. The store I'm at now is pretty catty but my previous stores were much More of a family vibe. Theres also a lot of politics. They have great healthcare and you get lots of gratis and training."

"The working structure at Sephora in sales is a nightmare. In my experience of working there for a summer the managers tend to have favorites. May it be the manager themselves for ruining the Sephora reputation, but even so the experience should not be discounted. Because the team is mostly women for some reason working there feels like working with your high school classmates (rumors, trash-talking behind someone's back, etc). There is no UNITY or EMPOWERMENT. Isn't that the point of Sephora? Sephora's catering to the self-esteem yet their employees are not given a system where they can do that with each other. Given that employees are only paid hourly and not competitively, bashing each other directly or indirectly is quite prevalent."
