When you apply, be able to back up what you state in education, employment history, and various volunteer activities. Be strong and very confident. Most importantly, respect yourself and do not let anyone tear you down.

The flexibility in the company varies as the floor numbers do. It all depends on the supervisor's flexibility in how they will conduct their business. The overall corporation flexibility is good it just get beyond the CEO's office

Be more diligent in their process of promoting and training for mid-level management positions. Hire employees with some knowledge of the technical business work they will be responsible for. Be more open to employee concerns.

Follow the current news on CUNY; right now it's in a serious crisis, and some parts are more directly affected than others. A turnaround seems inevitable sooner or later, since this institution is so essential to NYC, but that depends on politics in NYC and especially in Albany.

  • Took Maternity Leave Here? (Weeks)

Good policy thanks to union bargaining (almost all employees are covered by a union). 8 weeks came out of accumulated sick leave. C-sections receive 16 weeks total, "normal" births receive 14 weeks total. Employees at the highest executive category are not covered by a union and only receive sick leave. Paternity leave was also recently introduced for unionized employees.

Better paths for career development. Some benefits here (great health insurance) can serve as golden handcuffs if you face a dead end. New hires should seriously consider the 401k (non-pension option) to maximize flexibility in case the job isn't one they should stay in.

They try to prevent it from being a boys club, but the long hours and inflexible office policy make it very difficult for working moms to balance home and family. The men all rely on their wives to handle everything at home, failing to realize that I am also someone's wife.

October 2015

This organization does not support women to grow and systematically undervalues and underpays women, offering women lower introductory salaries. Since merit-based increases are capped at 3 percent, this means that across the organization, women are paid significantly less than men for comparable work.

March 2015

As with any tech company, it is filled with many more men than women and there are several advantages to this when compared with fairly equal representation to both. On the other hand, it comes with significant biases and disadvantages as well that any woman coming in should be ready for.
