Its a great place to work. Women and men are treated equally. Yet, Arthur D. Little needs to have more women to create more gender balance.

Maybe. It's long hours, often at a clients whim and travel over long periods of time so irrespective of gender you need to be career oriented.

While the company is doing it's very best to promote women and support gender diversity, the current working model (travel 2-4 days a week) makes it very hard for dual-careers households, especially with children

Though Bain has very open dialogue about how to support women and has great policies in place, there is still a lack of women in upper management and it's hard to get them there and to get them to stay due to the lifestyle demands of the client service consulting industry. You have to make a lot of trade offs if you want to stay, even if you take advantage of their flexible working program, etc. Many younger employees who are male have children and stay at home wives and are more able to fully devote themselves, which encourages some women to leave the company.

Actual policies in place are great (super long maternity leave, part time work programs) but having a life outside of work or a child while under the Manager level is near impossible and very rare. The lifestyle itself tends to be harder on women than men (more stuff to take while traveling! etc.).

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. Works if you are willing to make the client services and consulting lifestyle work for you. Still very men heavy.
