The remote first culture provides a level of flexibility to all employees, and it is not unusual for any employee to have time blocked off on their calendar for pick up/ drop off or to openly mention that they may be slow to respond due to a sick kid at home. Someone taking their parental leave will not have that held against them during performance reviews and we have seen multiple times where an employee has been promoted just before, during, or after their parental leave begins.
