Find another job if you can. The benifts are great the pay is poor. They pay males more than women. They also underpay minorities and younger people.

    They frown upon mothers who try to peruse a career. They don't think you can do both. They would rather have someone with no children who is fully devoted to working 24/7.

The leadership team responds well to direct feedback. "This particular thing is what doesn't work for me." Often, you have to drill down and be specific, but I have seen make changes when you are willing to point at a particular issue or instance and say "that should be different".

There are generous leave and benefits. Lots of options for healthcare (HMO v POS), dental, eye, and insurance options. If you are pregnant you can get up to 4 months of maternity leave. Spouses can get 6 weeks of paternity leave & if you are adopting you can gt 6 weeks of maternity/paternity leave.

    Depending on where you are, you can telework and have an AWS. My office has about 35 people and with the telework program just rolled out, we can telework upto two days per week. There is also the option of an alternative work schedule (AWS) during the low intensity work times. However there are periods in the year when it is expected to work late and on the weekend.

Raytheon gives the appearance of treating women fairly, but they do not do this. Only caucasian women are treated slightly better of than all women. I have close to a 30 year career at Raytheon in El Segundo, CA. I have seen men always promoted over women. It has gotten to the point that a caucasian male (age in his 50s) with no college degree what so ever was promoted to lead a group. Every single person in his group had at least one college degree with many having advanced degrees. Normally, a person in his position would be required to have a college degree. This male is working on his degree (online via an east coast school) in order to have all the prequisistes needed for his job. While he is based on the west coast, he will never set foot on a college, but at some point will have a college degree. Infractions of every type are looked the other way for men. Women are scrutenized for everything we do. Pay inequities exist in every position. The only way Raytheon can prove it does not exist is by publishing salaries which it will never do. Publishing salaries will expose the lie. Ethics is non-existent in the company. Raytheon gives lip service to it, but does not act on it. Raytheon now has an initiative to only "interview women or people of color" for upper level positions. The key is only an interview needs to occur, but you don't have to hire that person.

The hours can be long, though most managers are open to flexible hours. The industry seems to expect long hours, and Operations in particular makes you feel like you need to stay until X is done. In project management, no one has a family with very few exceptions...
