Because it was a brand new company, the owner wasn't sure what to do so he was generous in allowing me to receive my full compensation while on maternity leave. That has since changed.

There is no leave for the men. The women may take up to 12 weeks unpaid leave. This is also true for adoptions. You may use your sick days or vacation days to get paid for part of the leave.

December 2015

If you have to travel for the position there is no way you could have a small child. If you had a desk job it would be possible but know that the maternity leave accommodations are the minimum required by law. You will need to first use all of your sick time and vacation time. People are generally pretty understanding if someone has to leave to get a child at daycare or stay home because a child is sick. If you travel you will not see the same type of leniency. You may travel less the first year but it will go back up. The extra daycare costs can't really offset the pay when traveling.

September 2015

The company has a strong will to gain more female talent within their rows, especially engineering. The culture is very welcoming and family-oriented overall, work-life balance is excellent and volunteering (to any non-profit such as schools) is highly encouraged. There are times when things are very busy and it's required that you work long hours, but that rarely happens more than once a year - and for the rest everything is really flexible as long as you get your job done.
