"Regarded as the most queer and trans friendly sperm bank to it's clients, internally has some of the most ignorant long standing employees when it comes to treating their staff. If you're interested in entering the world of fertility as a job at the Sperm Bank of California, be prepared to endure some of the most racist, sexist, eugenicist, fatphobic, slut shaming, and sex phobic conversations you've ever heard. This is the worst training I've ever received as a new employee. There is a lot to learn to be sure, and fully training a staff member will take months to a year. There will be hectic moments in which an untrained staff may be asked to do something they have not been trained on and if they inevitably make a mistake in this task, it's definitely going into the list of fireable offenses where the manager has kept tabs on you from day 1. That is, of course, unless you take the blame for that manager's mistake in forgetting to train you. If you have the audacity to explain that you need to be trained better, you will not do well here. If you're good at giving a manager all the power they feel they are entitled to including being a subordinate that deserves the blame for your manager's mistakes, you'll do well. You'll be working with liquid nitrogen so safety is a big concern here. This safety also includes a dress code that recommends covering as much skin that will more likely come into contact with splashed liquid nitrogen. In their history of employees who work with the liquid nitrogen, those employees have mainly been women. If you show up to work showing any indication of cleavage or a shirt that might slip up so a sliver of your upper torso can be seen, you will either be talked to about how dangerous your attire is or that outfit is going into your manager's list of fireable offenses. They don't seem to be so worried about exposed arms, necks, legs or faces coming into contact with splashed liquid nitrogen. TSBC has a lot of anxiety around the perception that sperm banks are "seedy." They don't want their clients to feel like they're working with an organization that is "seedy." Their solution to this perception problem is the aforementioned dress code. Employees are encouraged to cover up so as not to give clients the idea that this organization is "seedy" or cover up to make the sperm donors more comfortable about donating in the same building. Do your best to recall that pesky sexist middle school dress code that only seems to refer to girls and use that as a guide to your daily outfit. Anything outside of this middle school dress code guide and you will be talked to about how your outfit is too sexy and/or that outfit is going into that list of fireable offenses."
