"If you don't have prior knowledge about wine and spirits, there are opportunities to learn, but you have to be the one to initiate that learning. There will be many customers that know more (or at least think they know more than you) about some products. I was often on the receiving end of condescending and patronizing language from both customers and managers, when I was putting in quite a lot of effort to learn."

"They say that people leave bosses, not companies. I would disagree for the most part because if the overall company culture is not positive, having a great boss isn't going to protect you from things that make doing your job less difficult (e.g., no consistent direction by senior management, lack of alignment between departments, little advancement, etc.)"

"With the exception of the promotions and merchanidising groups, women in senior-level and management positions are EXTREMELY hard to come by. There is a very distinct separation of the sexes by position/level within the organization. "
