"Great maternity leave benefits, 401k benefits, and PTO benefits! It’s the reason I’ve stayed so long with them."

"Vanguard is a great place to work! Work-life balance is important to both men and women, and I feel like I am respected and viewed a person, not differently as a woman. "

"This company has lost lawsuits made against them for their treatment of female employees. Know what you are getting into, and never for a moment think their mid management's need for constant positive feedback is misunderstood. It is a need, and if you don't always give positive feedback, their anonymous daily and weekly surveys will come back on you."

"Head for the exits immediately and start planning on Plan B. You are not appreciated; valued; and the only thing that matters is the expense ratio and not employees. Fake culture - hostile and abusive. "

"If you are single with no children, Vanguard could be a great place for you. I struggled with equality as a mother."

"great parental leave, flexible hours. feel like my opinion is valued."

"Like many other companies, if you intend to make use of all the great benefits (flexible schedules, parental leave) expect to be penalized. Vanguard is very secretive about employee pay so although they make many claims about women and men being paid equally for equal work and women in leadership there is no available data to support this."

"Vanguard has a great culture and mission - to help every day people reach their financial dreams. With main campus located in a plush Philadelphia suburb, the company is worlds away from Wall Street, both by location and attitude. At Vanguard, I love working with smart, driven people who are honestly very kind and friendly. People care about doing the right thing for the company and the clients. With integrity, work ethic and the right attitude you can really follow your passion at Vanguard."

"The higher up you are in the organization. the more resources you have available to utilize however the lower you are the harder it is to be able to utilize any resources available. Execs preach work-life balance but lower levels don't get the opportunity to practice it."
"watch your p's and q's. they say they want your opinion but they don't. they have a list and you have to be on it to be promoted."
"Overall, management is flexible with providing a work life balance and flexibility to women with families. I have the ability to work remote a day or two a week and that helps, however, you have to be in certain roles to have that capability."
"Great company. Outstanding benefits."
"Like most organizations, there is a strong company culture, which isn't for everyone. Those who are extremely successful adapt (or innately share) the same ideals; those who try to change the culture or resist it struggle. It is a wonderful environment to learn, grow.; opportunities presented are endless."
"They do not want employees over age 50 either men or women."
"Great company to work for, but maternity and child care practices seem inadequate compared to other companies."
"Vanguard is a great, client-centric organization. We truly believe in being an advocate for our clients, treating them fairly and giving them the best possible chance for investment success. I believe the firm could do a better job with maternity/paternity leave policies (specifically paid time off). I think they do a WONDERFUL job with flexible arrangements, but do not think it is consistent across the organization. Finally, at the most senior levels, the organization feels male-dominated."
"You will get far if you're fresh out of college and white you'll go far."
"Let people know what you want"
"I wish I had spent more time exploring a variety of careers and brushing up on skills, rather than focusing solely on day to day responsibilities."
"Take each day in stride and do your best to not get downtrodden by those who do not respect their own job. Work hard, it'll pay off."
"Get as many certifications and licenses as you can. Then, leave. You will not make money leave. You will not make a lot if money here. You will barely keep pace with inflation. They are the walmart of the financial service industry."
"some ares are super female and mom friendly and some not at all"
"Pay attention and absorb as much knowledge as you can from those around you. There are lots of opportunities for you to learn and grow. Everyone wants to see you succeed."
"This is really a company that cares about it's employees. Development is supported and career paths are flexible."
"Network early and often. The flat organization allows for many open connections and most executives are very open to networking with up and coming crew. Be ready to make an immediate impact, and know how you add value."
"Don't be afraid to try new things. There is a ton of support for all employees to learn and grow."
"Be in it for the long term. good company, strong ethics, good sense of community"
"Speak up for yourself and create your own goals. No one will take care of you but you."
"Is a really great company to work for."
"I've worked there for over 17 years and many changes are taking place within the company. Because I could not obtain my securities licenses, I am told I have to leave in June 2015. Not looking forward to going out and looking for a new job and having to compete with younger women. The years that I have worked for the company for were wonderful. I will miss all my co workers that have become my friends. I guess if I would say that this company is great to work for. Their benefits are good and they do care for their employees."
"Having a great boss is the most important thing! There are some excellent female and male leaders."
"I worked there a long time. Had to put my career advancement on hold when my son was young so I could handle mom responsibilities. Now it is harder to advance"
"There is no opportunity for advancement if you are over age 50 and female."
"They care about the women and try to increase the number of women in leadership positions."
