"This can be a great job if you need flexibility with your work hours. This is great if you care for another family member or have another job outside of this. You can build your own hours to pick up time when needed and refer others to this role and receive compensation too. "

"It's a good side gig if you need extra money or are in a situation where you can't take a full-time schedule or a regular 9-5 job. There are limits to the flexibility and you cannot count on pay. "

"You have flexibility within certain hours as far as opening time slots for students to book. Once a slot books it becomes completely inflexible. "

"They rarely respond well to "tickets." For example, I once sent a ticket explaing that a snow storm was expected about three days from the day I sent the ticket. I explained that I live in an area that does not get snow storms often and when they happen they often include power and/or internet outages. I asked if they could reassign my classes for those days to avoid the possiblity of a "Teacher No Show" if an outage occured. They never got back to me. I did have an internet outage and the "TNS" and it went against my contract even though I submitted another ticket after the fact documenting the storm and the outage. They have since changed their policy, but the point is that they often have policies that are too rigid and they do not really listen to teachers when we try to offer solutions on an individual basis. It is only after MANY teachers lose contracts and leave bad reviews on sites like this that they change policies. "

"You have to submit your assessment in 12 hours after you teach your class.
I have had 1 raise since the beginning and I have been working for them for 4 years now.
If you don't get enough classes, your won't make that much money a month. This is a side gig and not a full time job.
I went from having 35 classes a week to having 5 classes a week now. "

"This is an open schedule and since you are a contractor with them you are self-employed, so you can open time slots to let students know which times you are available to teach.

"VIPKid is not just for brick and mortar educators. Actually, I find that the people that I recruit who have a heart for mentorship and tutoring have the most success. Be patient for you bookings to pick up. It is not an overnight whirlwind of cash coming your way. You build your business by providing fun, personal experiences with each child that enters your virtual classroom. My experience has been a part time EST/EDT schedule and I teach 5 25-minute classes M-F and 20 classes over the weekend, taking home between $1500- $2000 a month with incentive bonuses that are essentially rewarding you for showing up on time and teaching around 20 hours a month. Minimal prep, curriculum is provided for you."

"I am my own manager! Hahah. You work as a contract worker. So you manage your own schedule. You could sign your contract and not work a single class for your 6 month contract or you could open up every available slot. I schedule my own availability."

"This is a contract position that pays by the class. You do not have minimum or maximum number of classes to complete.
There are rather stringent guidelines for cancellations and no shows.
Overall, I rate this highly as a mobile career option with great pay."
