"I would advise women to understand their ideal client base and asset under managements. Understanding those two items will help you close the gap of pay inequality. Your production, quality of life, and internal rankings will be based upon those objectives. "When I worked there in 2015, the maternity policy was 4-6 weeks (C-section - 6 weeks). Trust me, they expected for you to be back full-time after the 6 weeks. My immediate boss was really inflexible. One time he even said, "Even 6 weeks is too long!" No comment..."

"Even though my pay stub showed 120 hours of available PTO, I had to fight with the boss for every hour I requested. After a month of negotiation, he let me take 10 days off to visit my dying grandpa, who lived overseas. When I requested half day off almost a month after coming back, he would not let me - "you just came back from a two-week vacation!" Bereavement is not a vacation in my vocabulary... That said, the financial advisor I worked for was inflexible, I was not lucky, but I cannot speak for the rest of them."

"I've worked here for 2 years and there are alot of women working here. Many are in higher level roles, most of which require a decent amount of travel. I've heard the maternity is the absolute bare minimum and flexible schedules aren't really supported or embraced."

"I worked for Wells Fargo for 7 years. The branches i worked in were staffed by almost all women. Executive management is still mostly men, but that's the case in almost any large financial institution. Branch management positions are demanding and don't make a lot of accommodations for family/work balance."

"See recent scandal(s). Unfortunately, the core is rotten and has been for some time. It is going to take many years to repair. The company cares more about saving its reputation and they know they have scale on their side. The same core management is still at the company. Only the very top was ousted. There is tremendous pressure on the team members to clean up the mess. (including new hires). Wells has affinity groups but it is not very engaging. the IT organization is still heavily male dominated and not many women in middle management in the pipeline. CEO Signed diversity pledge but the company needs more action. There is no obvious efforts to mentor or enage women."

"While the company has great values that are stated in writing, its regions do not necessarily follow those values. My office is small and there were some issues and rumors going around the office. They got pretty bad, to the point that I had to call a meeting with my manager and one of the people who had started them. The meeting went well and my manager and I were talking afterword. I sort of rhetorically asked why these people even talked about me, I’m a fairly normal person with a fairly normal life; and don’t they have their own to worry about? I was told: “Well, you’re a pretty girl and you should assume that anytime you interact with or are friends with a male colleague, people will talk and spread rumors about you." My (female) boss then promoted the very people that tore me and the team apart. "

"Set your boundaries early. It is easy to get sucked into the firedrill mentality where everything needs to be done immediately. "I have enjoyed my small department. My manager promotes my personal and professional development. She is flexible with my schedule and cares about me as a person. As I've only worked for one manager here, I can't speak to the company as a whole. I was happy to learn that they extended maternity leave but they didn't let me have this benefit because it started after I began my maternity leave. This seemed very unfair as I only received three full weeks of paid time and the remaining 7 weeks I took (11 weeks total) I had to cover half of my pay and benefits "

"It all depends on the organization for which you work. If you work as a Financial Advisor, it's a man's world (and a world of baby boomer generation). And it also is branch dependent. If you luck out and work at a good branch (good team, manager, location), it may be OK. Wells parental leaves, etc. are subpar. Even the health benefits are very strict and inflexible. "I've worked here for 16 years and there are a lot of women working here, but predominantly in support roles. Generally I believe they are treated fairly but management is male-dominated and not diverse, which makes it tougher for women to "network" with them. Mid-level women don't seem to advance because of these subtle issues. Also, while maternity leave is generous here I think women are judged harshly by some colleagues and managers for taking the full time. When we do take time off for maternity, there is pressure to return to work which dampens the experience. Employees can get up to 25 weeks of full pay based on tenure but job protection is only 12 weeks."

"I've worked in corporate banking for 10+ years and Wells Fargo was by far the most formal, inflexible bank to date. My office is 90% men but they do offer a wellness room for pumping. I'm in California and found all the HR staff on the phone didn't know the California leave rules. It's amazing in a company of 250,000 people the only way to find out the true leave information was by word of mouth from other mothers. Overall they did a great job supporting me when I came back and I feel like my career didn't skip a beat which is nice."

"In my experience they are not friendly toward women with children, I was a working mom of a new born and needed to be able to pump breast milk. I was reluctantly given timed breaks at an absolute minimum and lead to believe I couldn't move up if this continued. I was forced to pump in the bathroom even though there was an office I could have easily used. I was constantly asked to stay extra time sometimes being 4 or 5 hours overtime on a weekly basis."

This company requires you to be competitive and willing to undercut others to get ahead. I have always believed in retaining team members and managing them into promotions not firing them or asking them to leave. "After having kids I was so appreciative of the convenient nursing room. I also like the flexibility of my job to work from home whenever I choose to.
