"Set expectations with your manager, share your personal life (like that you have kids or daycare duty, etc.) and commit to maintaining your own expectations (like no working at home)"

"Expect to get the skills you would like in a three to four year time span and then plan to leave. If you are planning on having children, while working at this company, I would find another job. "

"I worked in the field for this company. Remote work is very flexible. However, depending on the part of the organization, territories moving and travel changing can really hurt and be necessary for promotion. Work life balance at the corporate office is low. Men with stay at home wives dominate upper management and above. "

"This company will challenge you, there are a lot of things they are doing right to try and balance the diversity equation at this company. Whirlpool has invested time in family leave, programs to support mothers milk/nursing rooms, and great opportunities for internships as well as college support for families."

"A lot of this depends on your manager over the policy of the company. If you are in a role that requires desk time (e.g. customer service) the flexibility can be more difficult. But I have found in most field, merchandising, marketing, and sales roles the leadership is 100% supportive of being there for family."

"Vacation is barely tracked (depends on manager, but most trust you to manage it yourself) and parental leave will be fully paid in 2018. "

"I've had all my kids while working for Whirlpool. Overall, they are extremely family oriented. Depending on manager, your maternity leave can vary from the "by the book" 6-12 weeks, to as long as a year. With my first child I felt the need to justify exactly how much time I wanted. There are still a lot of men in leadership positions and they don't entirely understand the desire to stay home with your child for an extended time. My most recent baby I simply announced in a one-on-one that I was taking a year and they could figure out how to make it work. "
