"It can be a good job for someone with a completely open schedule. As well as anyone that is able to ignore lots of little injustices that are regular occurrences. If you're a go with the flow type, it pays a decent wage for the required job duties. "

"The company is inconsistent in whom they are willing to have set schedules for. They also have a pay structure that does not allow for the people working the hardest to receive raises that reflect their hard work. The company often hires new people on at wages that are higher than long term employees. "

"I had a baby half way through my time at wfm. when I told my bosses I was pregnant, I was demoted a lower paying position. I was devastated! I had to interview for a different position where I was paid a better wage.I saved up enough pto and had short term disability which allowed me to take 3.5 months off for fmla, because they don't have maternity leave. I was lucky for that but it was a struggle financially, even with a husband working full time. when I returned they were extremely unhelpful and inflexible about my schedule. Despite having been a "valued employee" for about 2 years prior. i was pushed in to part time, paid a lesser wage and ultimately quit. I had to attend mandatory meetings at night with my little 4-5 month old baby strapped to my chest. very disappointing."

"I had saved up PTO in case I ever got pregnant and needed to use it as my maternity leave. I was lucky that I saved it all up. Whole Foods doesn't offer maternity leave which is awful! I saw many babies being born to co-workers in my 3 years of employment there. Most of the women had to come right back to work and others just quit."

"Whole Foods is currently having issues in general with treating their employee population well. If you're a woman, it's even worse. Iv'e personally experienced and also witnessed mistreatment of employees with manageable health conditions, mishandling of leave of absence due to health reason and/or maternity leave. I personally would never work there again and would never refer anyone. Sadly, I did not feel this way during my first year, but what I experienced and also witnessed during my tenure has soured my viewpoint."

"The grocery business is a man's world. This organization--for all it's talk of Core Values--is run by a good ol' boy network of (mostly) white guys who do not necessarily welcome the female perspective when it comes to operations, benefits, training, etc. Women who ask questions that make male leaders uncomfortable are quickly labeled as difficult "squeaky wheels." It's an unspoken rule that we should keep our mouths shut to prevent making waves if we want to get ahead at WFM."

"No paid leave. FMLA entitles 16 weeks used concurrently with PDL. In California you can also stack CFRA for another 12 weeks of Baby Bonding. (Must qualify based on service hours & time in position) There is no problem taking leave time for pregnancy but they are not paid. If you are on the medical plan there are additional free maternity resources at your disposal."

"There is a lot of favoritism in general at my store and morale is very low. That being said, some stores are very different from others. I haven't noticed favoritism towards men in particular, but the majority of team leaders are men. I have been there several years."

"I have yet to experience first hand the need for maternity leave, I hear that it relatively fair. There is an abundance of sexual harassment that goes unpunished or unreported for fear of retaliation. There are women in leadership roles including at the regional level. But males do dominate the positions throughout the company."

"Do not be afraid to ask for help with things - they were always more than happy to adjust things so that I was comfortable and able to do all the things I could as a new mother. They always worked around my needs as far as breastfeeding went which was a big help - I went and asked if I could pump every 2 hours because my milk was decreasing and they found a way to start working that into the schedule that very day. I couldn't be more grateful for their support."

"I worked here 8 years and never had any corrective actions. Come to work everyday and worked by hardest. Was looked up to by just about every Team Member in the store including store leadership. But as a black person always looked over for promotions. They were always given to a "friend". I put in for a request and was denied for false reasons. Basically one of the people in charge of the store abuses her power and does things like that especially to black people or anyone she does not like for HER PERSONAL REASONS. None of which are related to company policy. The store I worked in #59 CTR was very unfair to all black Team Members and there are currently in leadership roles. With the exception of one who happens to be female. She has been working for the store for about 5 years and every time she tries to move up in the company they always give her a reason why they wont let her."

"Try to move up, and fast, especially if you have prior experience or knowledge. The longer you remain in basic roles, you will find that you will face many unnecessary challenges. I never saw men negatively treated for being straight forward or challenging standard ideas. Not so for women, however. You are expected to always be pleasant and accepting of upper management roles. Questioning leadership will lead you to the rap of being unapproachable or unable to take feedback."
