Probably not. It's tough to give the best information as a part-time employee.

I am currently a part-time employee, so I don't have 100% insight into the policies for those who are working full-time. However, from what I do know, compensation is not great and there is room to improve benefits. Upper management seems to be overworked and underpaid. There seems to be a positive culture for women who wish to have growth in the performing arts, but I think there is definitely room for improvement overall.

Maternity leave is non-existent. Medical insurance is expensive and the coverage poor. Company claims large female management, but this is only true if anyone with "manager" in their title (whether they manage others or not) are included. Women in executive suite are limited to ONE - a co-founder.

You will work before hours, after hours, weekends, and vacations. There is zero respect for employees home or personal lives. Concerns about this labels the employee as a poor performer, "unable to hack it."

Jacobs has always been fair with me. The company culture seems to really value the eployees as their greatest asset, and they are very willing to invest in our education and seem to go to great lengths to keep employees happy.

April 2015

I did not enjoy working for this company, nor did this company try to help its employees reach its full potential. A 'boys club' mentality really rules this place and hinders those who do not naturally have that personality. The strong women in the office were often demonized, by both men and women. I felt very discouraged while working there and this was one of the many reasons why I left.

It is low paying, and there are pretty heavy politics. However, there is plenty of time of and tuition benefits. The University also pays for your insurance.

We've had several women take leave during my time here, but all of it was by using built up Paid Time Off and unpaid leave. Flexibility varies significantly based on seniority. Men take anywhere from 0-6 weeks off for paternity (also all PTO or unpaid)
