Salary - when it comes up in an interview Nowadays, this comes up in the interview usually first round.

That's literally the definition of what I mean when I say "It has to do with SALARY BANDS". I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "Was I off? Or, was she?" Can you elaborate?

Geesh. Could you have been any more rude? She said she was just given one number, not the range.

She didn't give me the salary BAND... Just said a flat $94k. I felt like she was trying to just get me at the lowest. Hope that helps.

Not the way I would have necessarily handled it but my guess is that the salary band for that position probably topped out at $94k - say it was $84k to $94k. What's the point of bringing up the $84k to $93k part of that range if you're looking for $110k. I can see that. Still not sure I understand the "Was I off? Or, was she?" part. Also, FYI - I wasn't yelling at you in my previous post - I just copied and pasted from my previous comment. And I might have misunderstood your original comment - I thought you were talking about negotiating the comp higher. That's what I meant about working within the salary bands.

I didn't think you were rude. That was someone else. I'm the one that asked you the question btw. The recruiter just told me the salary of $94k. No band or range. No starting at, or tops at... So when I told her $130k, she almost seemed like she was caught. I've been interviewing for months and never had this happen to me. So I didn't know if I was just overreacting by withdrawing my interest or she was not giving all the info.
