At the level of seniority you're at in your career, you may need to be employing different personal branding strategies to show how you're well worth a 6+ figure salary (and picking different companies to apply at that put a high value on impactful creative). Are you wanting to be changing out of a creative career and/or re-entering a full-time employed job? And if so, what's the biggest city close to you?

All good questions here! I’d like to stay freelance in the creative industry. It’s becoming more content driven and not as mandatory to be onsite/full-time. I am taking an online UX writing course, attending panel discussions and networking outside of the ad agency community. Closest big city is Chicago.

If you want to stay freelance, it might be interesting to play with the idea of hiring subcontractors underneath you and turning yourself into more of an agency, so you can specialize on your favorite things (and not have to learn everything), while also giving clients the multidimensional support team they need (and because of the team, commanding higher hourly rates). Have you considered something in this direction?

Hi and thank you for the suggestions. I have considered something like this but I got overwhelmed with the questions that come along with subcontracting, contracts, rates, payroll, etc. I wish there was more/steady work in this town so I could have consistent clients/$ and be able to have subcontractors.
