I am a graphic designer with a bachelors in Fine Arts.
I am currently doing a bootcamp course for UX/UI design. I graduated from college in 2019 and have been looking for a job ever since. I usually don't get replies from a lot of the companies I applied to. What should I do?
Hey, Do you have a portfolio? Having a great portfolio gives you an edge over other students. Start working on a personal project. And then, showcase yourself and your skills courageously during your next interview. I am sure that you will nail it! All the best! (P.S - I am a Freelance Graphic Designer too!)
I'm in kind of a similar position, and possibly not the best person to give advice on this; but from what other people have told me, articles and books I've read, etc... Keep trying. Keep on going and going.
I find a useful way to keep morale up and fight off dejection is to vary what I'm doing playfully. Do some things that aren't supposed to work, because it's fun and it makes continuing to apply for jobs something I can keep doing more easily. Be sassy, be bold and audacious, be the self I think is unhireable *anyway*, because it's fun and it helps me find a balance in my "voice". Stretching myself to be more sassy than I am comfortable with helps me to be comfortable being a *little bit* sassy in ways that are still professional when relaxing out of that stretch, so that I don't feel or sound desperate.
Basically do whatever it takes to keep "keeping going" something that has fun and hope in it for you, because the fun is healthy, and the hope is absolutely vital. That's what I think, anyway.
I've gotten hired a few times that way, although... not in the kind of positions my schooling fits, unfortunately.
