Yes a career like that absolutely exists! The more rare a position feels, the more rare candidates who fit that position are! This combination may be what makes you stand out as a candidate. As you may have read from many of my previous posts and comments, it will likely be talking to people will help you find and land this role. That being said, as someone who maybe be looking to pivot, it would also be helpful to rewrite your Linkedin to align with your target roles. Not only will this help you in the networking/leveraging your current network process, it will help you get clear about where and how you are qualified which will be helpful throughout the interview process.

Thanks so much for the great tips. I do know I need to switch up my approach but was stuck as to where to start for a long time. I love the idea of leveraging my current network. I’m always hesitant to to explicitly post that I’m seeking opportunities for fear my current employer will see it. But I am sure there’s other ways to approach this?

Hi everyone! I’m Kelli and I’m so happy to have found this group! I’ve been working in my current industry, oil & gas, for almost 9 years. I’m ready to make a career change. I’ve realized the past few years that my values do not align with my organization. I’m seeking a remote or partially remote role based in the Chicago area- I’m open to different types of industries but am positive that I want to find a company or organization that shares my values of openness, flexibility and one that supports and values its employees. Since I’m looking for a career change I am open to different roles. My skills include analytical work, reporting, data analysis, accounting and controls. I’m also a creative person at heart and I write a blog in my spare time. Ideally I’d love to find a role that marries my passions of creativity and analytical work. Does something like this even exist? Thanks in advance for reading this!

Hello everyone, my name is Erin and I currently work in NYC as a security administrator. I am interested in furthering my career into information security analyst / soc analyst. I am hoping I can connect with people who understand how hard it can be for an older woman in technology. I switched careers late in life and find growing my career is challenging.
