How do I negotiate a moving bonus?

Q: How do you negotiate a raise/moving package if you're moving to another city? A: If you are in a very specialized or high-demand field, have special skills or experience or the company reached out to you first, this is often a sign that a company will give you a relocation bonus, Additionally, large companies like Amazon are known for doing this. Check on the company’s website to see if this is something they do. If you are in one of the above high demand situations, you can ask in the initial phone screening if this is something the company does. Old advice would tell you never to bring up money first, but I would find it to be a red flag if a company was offended by a logical question. If you are not in one of the above situations, I would wait until getting an offer to ask if it's their rule to provide this for all those that are moving. Keep in mind that having that same amount added to a yearly salary is more beneficial to you than a bonus as it is recurring.
