    Responsibilities

    The QFS Manager is responsible for driving food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across Modesto. This role is responsible for developing and executing robust FSMA and food safety programs, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for continuous improvement. With a focus on risk mitigation, team development, and stakeholder alignment, this position plays a critical role in safeguarding product quality and enhancing organizational performance.

    Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance

    • Lead plant teams in conducting risk assessments and developing comprehensive food safety and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) plans.

    • Continuously evaluate and enhance preventive controls based on risk assessments.

    • Manage food safety/quality priorities and coordinate relevant training programs.

    • Oversee and /or conduct root cause analyses (RCA) for quality and food safety incidents, ensure timely implementation of corrective actions as needed.

    • Oversee and ensure full compliance with all applicable food safety regulations at the federal, state/provincial, and local levels.

    • Identify and mitigate biological, chemical, and physical hazards in the production process.

    • Oversee GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) certification efforts and ensure ongoing compliance.

    Team Leadership & Operational Excellence

    • Lead and develop a high-performing team to resolve daily operational challenges and achieve both short- and long-term performance objectives.

    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

    • Motivate and inspire team members to meet and exceed operational goals.

    • Communicate effectively across departments to support issue resolution and process optimization.

    • Administer company policies and procedures and lead the implementation of strategic initiatives.

    Training & Communication

    • Deliver impactful presentations and conduct formal training sessions to enhance team capabilities.

    • Strengthen team communication and engagement through proactive leadership and feedback mechanisms.

    • Encourage creative problem-solving and agile thinking within the team.

    Strategic Reporting & Stakeholder Alignment

    • Prepare and present data-driven reports, offering insights and actionable recommendations.

    • Align key stakeholders on the development and execution of preventive controls to uphold food safety standards.

    • Communicate risks, identify improvement opportunities, and make recommendations to senior leaders, which enable timely, proactive responses to evolving regulatory requirements.

    • Define, implement, and maintain management systems and processes to ensure sustained FSMA compliance.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • The expected compensation range for this position is between $106,400 - $178,100.

    • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.

    • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually.

    • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree + five (5) years of manufacturing experience

    • Experience with GFSI Schematics (FSSC 22000, BRC, GFS, GRMS, etc.)

    • Proficient in sanitation procedures and GMP/AIB requirements in a manufacturing setting

    • Understanding of quality, OSHA, and food safety requirements in a manufacturing setting

    • Experience with Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)

    • Knowledge of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is preferred.

    • Project management skills

    • Ability to work in an unstructured environment with the ability to make tradeoff decisions quickly.

    • Ability to give/receive constructive feedback.

    • Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision making.

    • Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment.

    • Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills
