What You Will Do
Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems. Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations. Develops data and makes parametric models, layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs. Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company and have availability to travel up to 20%.
Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specifications for requirements and cost.
Provide analytical support through all design phase, production manufacturing and field support services
Lead design engineer for engineering changes that lead to new hardware design, testing and production & lead design engineer for investigation of engine field incidents leading to root cause and corrective action
Lead engineer in the development of serviceable and repairable limits for engine part wear
Leads producibility improvement investigations at various vendors. & present and communicate results to customers and program management
Perform engineering first piece reviews remotely and at vendor locations and leads the creation of safety risk analysis and develop risk mitigation plans.
Analysis and disposition of quality non-conformances (QNs) for new parts, and supplier requests for information (SRI's)
Participate as a design discipline lead in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy
Ability to write clear documentation, as well as to create and provide impactful, persuasive technical presentations to IPT, CIPT and customers
Develop and sustain a healthy work relationship based on mutual trust with pears, internal and external customers where significant interaction is expected
Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.
Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement & support design community initiatives.
Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.
English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years of engineering experience, or An Advanced Degree in Engineering and 3 years of engineering experience.
4 years of experience with Microsoft Office applications
3 years of experience with 3D/CAD modeling experience
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience working in the Aerospace Industry
Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the interactions of complex assemblies and how to translate those interactions into sound analytical assumptions
Previous gas turbine experience
3 years of experience with software and programing languages. NX, Teamcenter and SAP

Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.
Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.
