    RTX has an opening within Enterprise Application Services (EAS) for a Sr. SAP Basis Architect - AWS or Azure (Sr. Manager, Business Systems and Transformation). Individual Contributor Role. Remote Opportunity.

    Team: Team with other Sr. SAP Basis Architects to drive SAP strategies for RTX's multiple, complex SAP landscapes, both on-prem and cloud-based. Interact with IT Management and Staff, Project Managers, key Functional SME's and developers to ensure optimum system availability, reliability and performance; as part of our ERP Technical Services Team, he/she will be a leader working closely with SAP Basis & Security, UNIX/Linux System Admins, DBA's, Storage Admins, Network/Firewall Admins, and Backup/Recovery Admins. This is a senior, go-to resource critical to our new SAP Project work, as well as our continuing Operational Readiness.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Designs and implements the SAP Basis Architecture across a complex, highly integrated SAP environment (SAP ECC, BW-HANA, GTS, CRM, SRM, PI, SLT, BCS, Fiori, Solution Manager/SLD, CUA/IdM, S/4 HANA, MDG, Ariba etc);

    • Obtains & refines the technology requirements at RTX for new or already deployed SAP solutions, understands the impact/implications to existing SAP landscapes & processes, and defines our response.

    • Provides input, technical descriptions, diagrams, and detailed steps as required for project planning.

    • Researches, plans, correctly installs/upgrades/patches, performance tunes and supports all SAP software at RTX (because of the number of SAP products/technologies deployed, no single Basis Architect will be an expert in every technology, but will be a strong contributor on a team which supports them all);

    • For some repeatable activities (such as SAP kernel patches), clearly documents the RTX procedure to follow for deployment across the landscape by our R and M Basis Admins.

    • Uses broad system experience to quickly troubleshoot & resolve system problems or issues; able to smoothly coordinate troubleshooting activities with other disciplines (UNIX/Linux Admins, Network Admins, DBAs, Storage Admins, etc);

    • Serves as a resource for our team of SAP Basis Administrators in all aspects of SAP Basis, providing oversight regarding both the strategic and ongoing configuration of large SAP systems.

    • Serves as an SAP Basis Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing guidance as needed in areas including but not limited to, Upgrades, TMS, Change Management, Profile & Parameter Management, Performance Management, System Copies, Job Scheduling, System Connections, Interfaces, Monitoring, and SAP Security.

    • Serves as an on-call Escalation Resource 7x24 for critical RTX SAP systems, helping ensure the highest possible system availability.

    • Keeps abreast of changing SAP software, solutions and technologies; able to adapt quickly as RTX implements latest SAP technology.

    • Provide input to all SAP Basis related policies, procedures, controls, and best practices.

    Required Qualifications:

    Typically a minimum of 10+ years' experience in SAP Basis Architect arena plus a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree; Advanced degree and 8+ years' related work experience.

    • Firm understanding of SAP Technology, hardware, OS, DBMS, Network, Backup, High Availability, and Monitoring technology; ability to guide other members of our ERP Technical Services Team, and especially our Basis Administrators as well as Functional Team & developers.

    • Multiple complete life cycle SAP implementations.

    • In depth knowledge and experience with the SAP Upgrade Process.

    • Experience hosting SAP systems on AWS or Azure cloud platforms.

    • Knowledgeable in SAP Security Administration; able to support our SAP Security Admin Team with problems or issues.

    • Good project management skills; ability to advise and influence Management from the Basis perspective on the appropriate steps to successful implementations;

    • Exercises good judgment, demonstrates strong problem solving, time management & organizational skills; able to manage a queue of support and project work, including reporting to management as required.

    • Familiarity/experience with successfully meeting corporate Audit requirements including Sarbanes-Oxley, general computing controls, and access controls.

    • Current U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • UNIX/Linux Sys Admin, DBA, or Developer

    • SAP HANA

    • Single Sign-On/LDAP technology with SAP ECC and SAP Portal

    • Understanding of government contracting processes and regulations

    • Understanding of ABAP programming language

    • SAP Basis certifications

    Education Requirements:

    Typically a bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree.

    The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
