    What You Will Do

    The Power Thermal Management Systems (PTMS) Discipline, which is part of Engine Design & System Integration Controls & Diagnostics Systems & Accessories (EDSI CDSA), PTMS & Accessories, is seeking a Power Thermal Management Systems Engineer to be a part of our world-class systems engineering team.

    This job requires employee to work on-site at the PW facility.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Engineer working on assigned subsystem, provide support for subsystem design and integration

    • Modeling power and thermal management systems and components throughout product lifecycle

    • Execute trade studies to support defining subsystem and component requirements for module centers and suppliers, as well as requirement verification criteria and plans

    • Execute models to determine status to system performance, weight, cost, volume, schedule and RMS requirements

    Qualifications You Must Have

    • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

    • 5 years of engineering experience, or 3 years of experience with an Advanced Degree in

    • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

    • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

    Qualifications We Prefer

    • Understanding of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer

    • Experience with Matlab, Simulink, MS Office

    • Effective Communication Skills (verbal/written); able to work effectively on teams

    • Experience with Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) or Dynamic Modeling Laboratory (Dymola) or other turbomachinery simulations

    • Experience with one or more of the following engine subsystems: bleed air systems, buffer air systems, fuel systems, control systems, horsepower extraction

    • Experience with air cycle systems or vapor cycle systems for thermal management

    • Experience with decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements

    • Experience generating requirement verification criteria and plans

    • Experience integrating subsystems with engines or aircraft

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

    • Desire for continuous learning and innovation

    • US Security Clearance is preferred; willing to obtain and maintain.

Team members work on multidisciplinary Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to architect, model, develop and integrate state-of-the-art power thermal management systems with propulsion systems and aircraft.

    • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

    • For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.

    This position is open to internal applicants only within Pratt & Whitney. To help sure up our military programs, we are looking to reallocate resources to USG direct charging roles and therefore consider this to be an internal to Pratt movement. We may look to open these opportunities upon more broadly once we complete the initial Pratt talent moves.

    The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
