    Position summary

    Operator Mechanics in the local operation of equipment.

    • Observes and documents abnormal operating conditions in the plant and determines nature, cause, and corrective actions of the problem.

    • Responsible to formally communicate plant status with the Generation Operations Center Grid Control Center and leadership.

    • Reads and records data from instruments, compiles records and reports and maintains detailed logs.

    • Performs general cleaning and housekeeping duties.

    • Performs minor maintenance on plant systems and equipment.

    • Trains and assists other operators as required.

    • Issues and approves work authorizations including clearances, permissions, and approvals to work parties on plant equipment.

    • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Two or more years of recent Control Room Operator experience at a commercial power plant.

    • Possess a valid Driver's License

    • Knowledge of the principles of electricity, mechanics, and physics as related to the operation of steam station equipment.

    • Knowledge of Combined Cycle and Simple Cycle thermal power plants.

    • Knowledge of commercial Battery Energy Storage Systems.

    • Experience with location, nomenclature, and function of station equipment, including turbine generators, boilers, heat recovery steam generators, mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, sophisticated instrumentation and automatic control systems, piping systems, remote control, and protection apparatus and switchgear.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

    • Experience with Ovation, GE Mark 5e/Mark 6e, Wonderware, RS Logix, programmable logic controllers and other digital control systems skills, education, and experience .

    • Position will require up to 15% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

    • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

    • Relocation may apply to this position.

    • This department operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week; therefore, work schedules are designed utilizing the Dupont Shift Schedule of working 12 hour shifts with a rotation between days and nights either 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

    • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Reference our Information Guides for the following tests: EEI POSS (Test #2467) and Control Operator (test #2467). Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
