    Responsibilities

    • Represents the organization to the government bodies that are vital to the business, including (Governor's Office, State Legislature and State Agencies) Executive Office of the President, Department of Energy, Department of Treasury, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of the Interior, in industry coalitions, and at other policy functions

    • Assists in defining advocacy priorities, managing budgets, and tracking project deadlines

    • Provides written and oral advocacy to further the organization's strategic priorities with the State Legislature and State Agencies

    • Develops and nurtures durable and credible partnership with legislatures, government leaders and/or national agencies, state and local decision makers and elected officials

    • Monitors and tracks legislation and public policy issues related to the organization's business interest and leads legal and policy research

    • Coordinates development of the organization's positions and engagement strategies on state government issues and state/local regulations, rulemakings, and activities that impact the organization's operations

    • Facilitates the communication of policies and positions with government officials and appropriate parties

    • Attends legislative committee meetings and hearings to stay current with latest policy development, drafts policy updates and issues papers for distribution to clients and external audiences

    • Analyzes and assesses background information and communications including political analysis, advantages of support or opposition, bill analysis and legislative highlights for internal audiences and comment letters to legislators and regulators

    • Collaborates with the internal Corporate Affairs team to ensure alignment of goals and that the goals are supported, strengthened and measured

    • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Seven or more years of public affairs experience, including federal and/or lobbying experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in such fields as Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Communications, Business, or Economics.

    • Five years of experience in the legislative, public affairs, government affairs, regulatory or communications arenas in which duties include policy analysis, advocacy and/or written and verbal communication with elected officials and staff (preferably the California Legislature).

    • Experience leading and managing the development of California legislative strategies and policies.

    • Experience in dealing with highly sensitive, political inquiries through coordination and extensive communications.

    • Ability to work in high volume, high pressure situations, with an emphasis on policy advocacy and project management experience.

    • Experience gathering documents, performing analyses, and drawing conclusions on legislative policies.

    • Experience with broad issues management.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    • Strong organizational skills with high level of initiative and ability to effectively interface, collaborate, and partner with stakeholders, senior management, clients and team members to help drive solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.

    • Sound leadership skills to set priorities, achieve desired actions and outcomes through negotiation and influence.

    Additional Information

    • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.u202f Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.u202f Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
